PATSY GALLAGHER CAMPBELL

I lived Henderson, Kentucky following my marriage in May 1971. We moved to Fort Myers, Florida in 2015 and we have a home in Pine Knoll Shores, North Carolina. We sold the beach house in 2020 and now have a condo in Morehead. I am happy to be close to family and friends in Raleigh part of each year! We call North Carolina home from April until October and the rest of the year you can find us in Florida!

I went to Broughton sophomore year, then graduated from Saint Genevieve of the Pines in Asheville 1965. I attended Saint Mary's College, South Bend , Indiana where I received the Catholic education my parents wisely valued. I had a fortunate blind date with a charming Notre Dame student in 1966 (while at Saint Mary's)! I married Benson Walker Campbell, III, 5 years later! We are the parents of 3 wonderful children! My final degree was a Master of Science in Clinical Psychology.

I have been blessed through the years, as my husband understood my unique need to stay close to all family and many friends (in North Carolina )even though we lived in Kentucky! One of the benefits is that I have been adopted by my friends in the class I started high school with, and happily enjoy reunion gatherings, and frequent visits to Raleigh. There have been many special friends in my life, but those nurtured old friendships are the richest.

I was able to be a stay at home mom, while Benson worked to build his own accounting practice. I began working part-time when our children left for college. I did therapy and counseling (with a concentration in substance abuse) and I was adjunct faculty at a local college, teaching Intro Psych and Developmental Psych. When I had time, I served as a Peritas for the Diocese of Owensboro doing psychological evaluations for annulments.

Kentucky was a perfect place to raise our family. Now it is time to linger longer in North Carolina (forever the home of my heart) and enjoy Florida, the land of endless summer. As with us all, we have had our share of joy and our share of sorrow also. It is exciting to turn the page to the "retirement" chapter of life. We managed to make the first years an enjoyable and exciting adventure and I think our future will be the same. I look forward to seeing everyone at the reunion!
