Oh, Lord, 71! (or seb’nty one, as they say in these pine hollers in Wendell)

Deep appreciations for all of your glorious birthday wishes!

At three score and ten plus one, I SOMETIMES feel like singing the baritone solo from George Gershwin’s PORGY AND BESS:

And nothing’s plenty for me
I got no car, got no mule
I got no misery
The folks with plenty of plenty
Got a lock on the door
'Fraid somebody’s a-goin’ to rob ’em
While they’re out a-makin’ more
What for?
I got no lock on the door
That’s no way to be
They steal the rug from the floor
That’s okay with me
’Cause the things that I prize
Like the stars in the skies
All are free!>

Yet I so appreciate my friends and relatives—and the new friends I’ve made on the Needham Broughton Class of ’65 Web site!

Carpe diem, everybody!
