Update on John(ny) Hunter

After 15 years of fighting Chronic Lymphatic Leukemia (CLL) as the result of exposure to Agent Orange in the early 1970’s, classmate John Hunter has opted to discontinue all treatment except for comfort measures.  Yesterday he transitioned into the Durham VA Hospital Inpatient Hospice. While he is not receiving visitors except for family and close friends; he, wife Sallye, and his sister Nan (Broughton class of '64) can use everyone’s thoughts and prayers. Cards and notes can be sent to his home address: 2824 Rue Sans Famille, Raleigh 27607. (posted by Lynn Blanchard on 9/22/18)

Update on David Smith

David’s daughter received information from Transitions LifeCare Nursing staff that David had rapidly weakened, ceased eating and was sleeping most of the time. She feels her dad won’t be with us much longer. I visited him today and he knew me but was not strong enough to carry on a conversation, slipping in and out of sleep. Keep David and his family in your thoughts and prayers. Posted by Mike Pedneau, August 2, 2018

News on John Hunter’s Health

As a result of exposure to Agent Orange in the early 1970s while serving in the Army, John has been battling Chronic Lymphatic Leukemia (CLL) for the past 15 years. Since 2006, he has required Chemotherapy about every 5 years. He is currently in Durham VA Hospital fighting CLL again plus a related Lymphoma. When his immune system is able to bounce back, he will probably be transferred to a Rehabilitation facility for physical therapy. He and his wife, Sallye, could use prayers and cards right now. Their home address is: 2824 Rue Sans Famille, Raleigh 27607.   Posted by Lynn White Blanchard (July 1, 2018)

Photo Gallery is Open for Sharing!

There is now a link on the left of the home page to the photo gallery for reunion weekend photos. We have gotten it going with the great pictures Cathy Hooks Stevens took on Saturday and Sunday mornings, and we will be adding the photographer's photos once we receive them. The page permissions allow for all classmates to add their own photos, so get going! The space is limited, but hopefully we will have enough to accommodate everyone!

And once is your reunion committee prior to the reunion...we will update this one at our next committee meeting!

It's August! And it is not too late to register!

Just over two more weeks until our big weekend...and we are still waiting to hear from some of you. We hope you have your registration in the mail, but even if you do is NOT TOO LATE!! Below is the list of registrants as of Friday, August 7 (with those we have received since we last posted in red. If, like many of us, you cannot read this list, you can click on the "List of Attendees" page to the left, where there is a link to a more readable list you can download. (We hope the next list includes some of you we are missing on this one!) PLEASE NOTE: This list is of those we have received as of Friday, August 7. We have a number more that came in over the weekend and will incorporate and post an update later this week!

Updated Broughton Reunion Attendance List

July 21, 2015

The registrations are coming in, but there are still a lot of folks we want to hear from! Below is the list of those who have registered (with those listed in red the additions since last week's posting). If it is not on there, get your name on the list. If it is on there, get in touch with those whose names are not, and encourage them to send in their registrations!

In just six weeks we will be gathering to celebrate our 50th! Below are those classmates who have registered for the event, and we have heard from many others who tell us, their "check is in the mail!" We will update the list as we receive registrations, and if your name is not listed today, we hope it will be soon. And if you don't see someone's name and are hoping to see them, give them a call or send a note to encourage them to come! An update will be posted on Monday, but here is who we have as of 7/15/15:

The invitations were mailed last week, and we hope you have received yours and are busy completing your registration for our reunion weekend! We are posting the invitation and reply card below just in case you did not receive one.

If you would like to print the reply card, you can save it as two images (front and back) to your computer, print and complete it and mail it in with your check as directed on the card.
